The Loch Shiel Festival is a membership organisation dependent on the support of its members who pay an annual subscription of £10. In return, they receive direct mailings with concert details and booking forms, and are entitled to preferential seating for pre-booked tickets. Should you wish to join the organisation, click Become a Member above and follow the instructions.
The Festival organisation has been supported by a partnership of local music groups:
Lochaber Community Wind Band
Lochaber Music School
working closely with other groups such as Feis na Gael Lochaber and Lochaber Showstoppers.
The overall idea is for the local music scene to benefit from an annual injection of inspiration and motivation provided by performances of a national standard on their own dramatically beautiful doorstep. Its scope has expanded in recent years to be as accessible as possible for young people, the elderly and families in the local area. It is run principally by a team of three - Miriam Iorwerth, based in Glenfinnan and responsible for managing the Festival; Cellist Duncan Strachan, based in London and perfoming internationally as a soloist and chamber musician; and Clarinettist Becky Milne, who is based in Plockton and is teacher at the Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music.
Current committee members are:
Chairman: Miriam Iorwerth
Secretary: Stephen Carruthers
Treasurer: Steve Taylor
Ordinary members: John Dove, Andrew Simpson, Catriona Hunter, Jenna Maclean, Stuart Moralee
